Whenever we are facing with a problem for sub-domains and domain mapping to work properly, it might be due to misconfiguration of WordPress website. For example, if we want sub-domain test.host1plus.com to be mapped to domain.com and working properly, we will need to edit WordPress configuration file by adding additional directive.

  • First of all, open file wp-config.php for editing. We can use built in file manager in hosting server control panel or FTP client. Then find a line where it says:
  • /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
  • Place the following directive under the mentioned comment line:
  • define('SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', true);
  • Completed lines of code should look as follows:
  • /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
    define('SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', true);

From now sub-domain and domain mapping should be working correctly. If there are still some issues, there might be various reasons caused by domain registrar or hosting service provider.
