How to move cart from root to catalog folder

Cloud Servers 727 x 90

Moving osCommerce shopping website from the root directory to the sub-directory basically involves moving the files and adjusting website configuration in order to match new website URL. Generally, files can be moved by using built in file manager provided by hosting service control panel or simple FTP software.

Simply login to web hosting account control panel and open file manager. Then navigate to the folder in which we have osCommerce installed and select all the files. Then copy or move selected files to the new directory.

If we will try to open website by using new URL, it might be showing errors related to incorrect website URL. It’s caused due to incorrect website location and URL in the configuration file. Therefore, we will need to adjust the configuration in order to match new location and URL. To do this, open file “configure.php” which is located in the “includes” directory. Find the following lines.

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.domain.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'http://www.domain.com');

Edit them by replacing¬†‘http://www.domain.com’ with the new URL. Then find another line which defines web server location in which osCommerce files are located. It should look as follows.

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/username/domains/domain.com/public_html/ecommerce/');

Replace this line with the new one which includes new location. Apply the changes by saving configuration file and try to check the website again. If we have done everything correctly, website should be working as should in the new URL.
