How to Install a Custom ISO on Your Cloud Server – A Graphic Tutorial
If you have any special requirements or some custom pre-built ISO templates, you might consider using our Custom Template functionality which allows you to upload and install your own ISO templates. Let’s take a look how easily that is done!
Step 1: Download
Find an ISO you want to upload. It might be stored in a repository if it’s an official release, otherwise, you will want to upload it to a publicly accessible file storage.
Once you have the URL of the ISO, go to Templates tab in the Client Area and select Add ISO.
Paste in the URL, name the template and select whether it’s bootable or not (and the OS type).
If all is good a download should start immediately.
Step 2: Install
Once the download is finished, go back to the Templates tab and you should find your new template ready. Click on it and select Re-Install and the installation should begin.
At this point, the VM is locked and the new OS is being installed.
Step 3: Connect
Once the install is finished (you can track the progress in the Server Dashboard) click on the Virtual Console button and then open it in a new tab.
Step 4: Use
For your convenience, the VNC console will output a full GUI of the machine. It might be a bit laggy and the colors and resolution are not the best in the market, but it’s a great way to quickly access your machine to graphically set-up the essentials or just test the compatibility and performance.
And just like that you can deploy and start using custom ISO’s on your Cloud Server. You can find FAQ and details on compatibility regarding Custom ISO’s in our knowledge base article.
