ssh and sftp

Just wondering if we do have ssh access. I tried to login and I see sshd is running but got:

Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-with-mic,password)

Would uploading my publickey to ~/.ssh/authorized_keys work or are users restricted using DenyUsers, AllowUsers directives in sshd_config. It's just that standard FTP is completely insecure. Also it is easier managing files, permissions, cronjobs, etc. from the command line.

ssh is disabled for now, we will enable it after all system will be tested.
